Balances consist in selling with a strong reduction (street market) on price, especially in clothing, reduction of stocks of unsold items of it saison previous.
Balances favour a flow speeded up by the goods in supply copies of which were offered in sale for at least a month and include a reduction of price, which can go up to a resale at a loss, within the limits of the supply to be sold. Balances can be accomplished only in the course of two periods per year civil.
The dates of balances are fixed, in every department, by the prefects, after consultation of professional organisms and consumers. Their maximum allowed lasting length of six weeks.
